Leverage existing web information
After googling for link:newhopefellowship.org and realize that many people started bloggering with google rather than within NHF forum, I realize that instead of building blogger/forum sites, which are rather restrictive to people's surfing habits, it is better to wait for them to find their favorite web activity, input however they like, and try to leverage on that information.
Google did exactly that. Yahoo did the opposite, and build user behavior patterns by providing the space, the code, the hierarchical directory, the portal content, and wait for people to play by their rules. Eventually people can easily switch. Google, on the other hand, did not provide any Web content building tool, but instead leverage off the whole web by providing links instead, and the analysis of these links.
In the same way, my effort to turn NHF forum into a central information portal for NHF may be futile, or at best participated by a small group of people. So I should simply let it serve whatever is necessary, and not force the adoption of things like Spiritual Diaries.
Spiritual Diaries will never succeed within a church, but better left to the anonymous web, where people dont feel like they are being read by people who know them. Furthermore, the ease and the stylish displays add to the incentive. On the other hand, it is conceivable that we can build a Spiritual Diary site on the web.
Along the same lines, rather than forcing an open-commentary site, I should instead try to leverage off the existing web, and create content that way, sort of like data cleaning up. Otherwise, waiting for a critical mass of submissions would be useless. So let me google on various parts of the bible first.
One way to start is to see if I can use RSS to feed the various interesting blogs. Then setting up communities based on ePeople who are blogging separately would be a new type of eCommunity construction. That would also allow pastors to be better informed of what their congregation is really thinking.
Secondly, RSS feed all the Furl sites into an URL folder, for comparison with Google's hierarchies. This will be valuable resource for the future.

The new show "The Swan" glorifies yet another set of professions - cosmetic surgeons.
We have seen in the past the glorification of various professions: MacGyver and A-team for engineeers, Iron Chef for cooks, Poker for the gambler, reality shows and ER for cops or doctors, competitions such as Trump, American Idol, ... (Some of these I never watched, but only infer from titles.)
Now "The Swan" turns ordinary women into beauty queens, through body resculptering, workout and plastic surgery. They also offer some conseling for self esteem. However, even at the end, the women with poor inner strength is still way too insecure, (obvious by her posture). Her new given beauty will, like instant lottery wealth, be a burden for her if she is not psychologically ready for such new change.
This made me realize, along the lines of NHF 2004/05/02 sermon, that the church family is in a unique position to change people's lives dramatically, in far more powerful, influential, and effective ways to turn ordinary people into beautiful princesses. Truly, we are all Children of God!!!

whois.sc searches:
bible, commentary, testimony, community, christian, portal, sharing
led to seeing various sites taken, but only one site formed last year (christian testimony) made some small advance.

A sensitive issue... Pastor King emphasized it once, that Chris feels like an outsider in NHF... Now I am starting to understand ... if the church does not make a serious point of acceptance
